Someone put a spam comment on an old blog post today, prompting me to revisit an old friend: HoltPress. It's several years since I posted anything on my blog but it is great to have it as a record and reminder of events great and small in my life. I'm not going to start blogging again regularly, but I thought it would be good to give a brief summary of things that have happened "recently".
After 4 years of hard work I completed a university degree in 2018 and became a qualified teacher.
A frustrating year of relief teaching followed because I was unable to get a job.
2020 has been the year of bushfires and the Corona virus, but the silver lining for me was getting a job as a teacher at Natimuk PS. For the uninitiated, Natimuk is in the Wimmera, some 300km from our home in Ocean Grove. Therefore, I now "live" in Horsham, the nearest big town, and go home every few weeks.
Teaching is very challenging, but also rewarding. I have a small class of yr 3-4 students and am enjoying learning alongside them.
Carolyn is studying as well, having done a diploma in counselling she is now completing a second diploma, in Mental Health.
Zach and Elise live at Wilson's Creek in northern NSW and announced some great news this week.
Sophie and Mikey are at Mullumbimby and are expecting their second child early next year. Matilda, our first grandchild is now 2 1/2.
Jordan and Paul are both back in Busselton behind the closed WA borders.

Sorry to bug you Marcus. It's midnight and I've spent the last three hours stalking an article I found on the Commonwealth games fish that led me here. There wasn't an option to email you unfortunately but I wonder if you'd be able to impart some knowledge on the where about of the African Bonytongue Fish you purchased back in 2006.
I'm obsessed!
